That is the prestige loop the whole genre is built on. When you finish an episode you step through the portal to a new area with new businesses and characters. Your customers and cash reset; your Nanospiders, Dream Crystals, cards, character upgrades and business renovations carry forward, so a business you reopen is at the renovation level you left it. The portal panel lists what you keep and what resets before you confirm. It surprises new players the first time, which is why we state it here as well. Yes. Every business you have automated keeps producing while you are away, at the same rate as when you are playing, and you collect what it earned on your next visit. Businesses you have not automated need you in the game to collect from them. You need an internet connection when you open the app so events, leaderboards and your cloud save can sync.

Open the business and check its automation requirement. Automation opens from the second episode and asks for a named character at a set level; the character and level change from episode to episode and are shown on the business. You level characters with Nanospiders and that character’s cards, which come from goals, customer bonuses, coffins, trades and events. Once automated, a business collects for itself, including while the app is closed. Automating early in each episode is what turns the game from tapping into idling. Automation requirements rise with the episode: later episodes ask for higher character levels, and each level takes more Nanospiders and cards than the last. Long-time players raise this in reviews. The intended path is character upgrades and event rewards, which raise income and meet the requirements; rewarded ads also help. You are never required to buy anything, but late episodes are slower without events, which is why one runs most weeks.

Trades are offers from Frances, Rory or Janice at the bottom of the map screen: they ask for cards you own and pay Nanospiders. A trade only appears every couple of hours, and only when you have enough copies of an eligible card, so a Complete Trades goal can sit unfinished for a while. Check whether you need those cards for an upgrade before accepting; if you pass, another offer comes along in a few hours. Events have their own trades.

Link your save through the in-game Settings menu before you switch. Once linked, installing the game on a new device and signing in restores your town, collection and currency. An unlinked save lives only on the device that created it.

Update the game and your OS, restart the phone, and close other apps. If it keeps happening, contact support with your device model, OS version and roughly when it happened.

Close and reopen the game first; a reward that has not been delivered is often granted on the next launch. If it still is not there, contact support with your player ID and roughly when you watched the ad.

The guided arrow runs through the early episodes and fades out as more systems open up. There is no setting to turn it off.
